Anyone joining in on the thread about 'peak time' problems, you're best confirming the following before doing anything:

      - Ensure you're on Sky LLU (everyday lite or unlimited), NOT connect.
      - Post up what exchange code/region you're in.
      - Post up a set of stats from the test socket (behind the master socket faceplate, provided you have a test socket) with just a filter and the short grey dsl cable provided by Sky
      - Connect via ethernet cable and run a tracert to bbc.co.uk at an 'OK' time and another at an 'affected' time

At least that way the people with a genuine routing issue can be identified.

@Jayhab - It's a definite that you're affected by the routing issue. It will be in the hands of Fault Management to sort out at the moment, so hopefully it'll be resolved asap.

I remember there being a fault a couple of years back where a collection of exchanges were going slow and it was a backhaul issue - took 2 months to even get it ackowledged by FM but I pushed it with the help of users on here to get the relevent information...hopefully won't take as long this time!

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Thanks for the tip, i paste trace below. Actually i have solved my problem by using an additional phone socket and plugging my router into that as thats where my PS3 is kept, then i just connect with ethernet cable. I think there was a problem with my PS3 linking wirelessly with the router. i put my netbook on the ps3 and did a speedtest the netbook was fine the ps3 randomly bad when wireless. ??
I don't know what was wrong but i'm sorted now, even turning off the router may have sorted it.
      Anyway via wireless:
      Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [212.58.224.138]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

      1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
      2 29 ms 28 ms 28 ms dr0.hobir.isp.sky.com [89.200.1

      6 35 ms 35 ms 36 ms bbc.co.uk [212.58.224.138]

Why is the above posters easynet and not sky?

      router: 21st day since activation.

Connection Speed 13307 kbps 1109 kbps
      Line Attenuation 31.0db 18.6db
      Noise Margin 6.6db 7.4db

on my 6th day of new line test i had
Connection Speed 13303 kbps 1105 kbps
      Line Attenuation 30.5db 18.1db
      Noise Margin 7.3db 8.4db

Ultimately you'd be better of leaving the router in the master and then route a cable to the device(s). Wireless will always give poor results, and this is magnified when gaming as wireless gaming should be avoided at all costs

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Ok peeps - just called Sky again and spoke to CST:

They are still working on the problem and are aware of many customers registering a problem with high pings and low throughput in the evening. Unfortunately there is still no ETA for a fix - though it is understood that this is becoming a big problem for Sky - it is affecting SVBN and Non-SVBN customers alike - it is no longer just affecting the North West and North Wales - reports of affected customers are increasing for other areas too.

To speed up a resolution, everyone who is affected needs to contact Sky and register a fault on their connection:

You must state that you are an Unlimited customer, you have not changed your set-up, it is only affected in the evening and results in high pings and low throughput.

Other than that - unfortuunately - just sit and wait!

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

I just asked SKY to change my profile to gamer, here is what i have now.

      1 1 ms <1 ms 1 ms 192.168.0.1
      2 30 ms 29 ms 29 ms dr0.hobir.isp.sky.com [89.200.1
      3 30 ms 42 ms 30 ms vl190.ar8.hobir.isp.sky.com [89
      4 57 ms 271 ms 203 ms 212.58.238.189
      5 36 ms 36 ms 36 ms 212.58.238.153
      6 37 ms 37 ms 38 ms te12-1.hsw1.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk [21
      7 36 ms 37 ms 37 ms 212.58.255.12
      8 36 ms 36 ms 36 ms BBC - Homepage [212.58.246.90]

      and before:
      1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
      2 29 ms 28 ms 28 ms dr0.hobir.isp.sky.com [89.200.1
      3 29 ms 29 ms 29 ms vl190.ar8.hobir.isp.sky.com [89
      4 35 ms 35 ms 36 ms 212.58.238.189
      5 49 ms 34 ms 34 ms 212.58.238.153
      6 35 ms 35 ms 36 ms bbc.co.uk [212.58.224.138]

Have i ended up with something worse, i heard some people have slower pings from going to the gamer profile instead of faster.

I think I'm still getting the evening slow down here in Cornwall. Half my normal upload speed.
