      With an attenuation of 41 you should see 8-10Mbps but with your noise margin at 9db there's not a lot of room for improvement. Are these stats from the test socket? If so, you won't be seeing any more as it's your external line that's the issue - NOT Sky

      i would like to add my two pence to this topic to see if anybody can provide an answer:

      I am an old ukonline customer who achieved through the exchange on an ukonline contract which was llu - 10,070 sync

      I have recently gone onto the six months free sky which I understand is the same exchange, using the same LLU equipment (as sky took over ukonline) and I am using the same modem that I used for the ukonline contract. My sync speed is now only 7,400 and my speeds are obviously significantly slower both up and down.

      How can this be so ?

      When you first go live on Sky BB you go through DLM - a ten-day training period during which maximum speed is calculated. The router should be left on at all times

      This thread is an issue with sync speed being fine but throughput is low

      for your reference llu does not go through a training process read the link here LLU and DLM - I'm confused

      Yes it does, Sky's LLU goes through a 10 day training process (DLM), it starts at 4mb and works up. As IWNTE worked for Sky for a number of years, he knows what he is talking about.

      hi i have been watchin this thread since yesterday. i have been doing speed tests since saturday as my ps3 is really slow with online gaming and the internet on laptop is being really slow. i have been gettin ping over 300 and download of about 1.6 mb. last week it was fine. just cant even get a game on ps3. starting to be really annoying.
      i am in north wales which i see is havin problems. i will do the tests mentioned above.
      but i am not very good when it comes to things like this so please be patient. thanks

      Sky Broadband Unlimited speed gets slow and long ping at Peak times
      rhyl North Wales.

      just tried the master test socket test and the download was 1.94mb and 305 ping.
      but when i use speed test.net if i change the sever to the manchester one instead of birmingham i get 7.11 download and 275 ping.
      i will call sky using works phone tomoz dont have a house phone.
      seems like its just this noth wales/north west issue. needs to be sorted i can hardly surf the net.

      Hi, ive had similar issues in the last couple of days. I was getting 17 meg and it dropped to 3 meg. I disconnected all apps and just connected filter and router into test socket and got the same I changed MF and back up to 17 meg. Do this before calling sky as they will ask you to do this. if u get the same results then tier 1 will pass you through to CST who can take a look at this and probably improve the speeds. Another thought have any new housing estates or offices gone up in your area recently? There has to be a reasoon as on sky unlimited u aren't throttled or under any traffic management etc
