"Reduction In Broadband Speed - Updated
Reduction in Broadband Speed – Update
The upgrade activity in the Cheshire and North Wales areas is now complete and normal SkyBroadband service has resumed. We apologise for any disruption that customers may have experiencedwhile we completed the upgrade work.
Planned upgrade activity in the Kidbrooke and Kent area is on track and normal service shouldbe restored from Friday 11 February.
If you’re outside these areas and experiencing reductions in your broadband speed, pleasevisit http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/broadb...tion-problems/
Further updates will be posted here and on the Sky HelpForum"

I am in the Stockport (Cheshire) area (SK6) and am yet to see any improvement. If they say they've repaired or finished the upgrade, why is mine still rubbish?

I honestly don't think the "fix" has worked for a lot of people, I don't play games etc but noticed last night that the throughput was just as bad, we'll have to see what tonight brings if no better back on the phone

I wonder if the line problems have caused DLM to kick in and reduce your speed. What are your stats like?

Speedtests tell you nothing except that your speed is slow, the stats may reveal why.

It looks like something is broken again - even after the 'fix' went in on Friday!
Although pings are roughly where they should be - they are fluctuating and creating a lot of jitter - the main problem now though is throughput!

This is what I was getting on Thursday night:

This is what i'm getting now:

      Exactly what i'm geting (Wrexham)
Done a few tests over the space of 10 mins and the pings and speed is all over the place.
Phoned sky and the guy said not to rely on speed test sites, i was not getting anywhere with him so i hanged up.
Hope someone can get some better info off them !!

Sounds like the "fix" has caused more problems.

Re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

      To everyone else still affected:

I too have just gotten off the phone with CST, though not before almost getting stuck with a Tier 1 bod who wouldn't believe that there was any difference between sync speed and actual throughput! Thankfully, my existing ticket was still open as he was refusing to let me speak to CST and denying that there was actually a problem!

Anyway - I got through to CST and spoke to the very helpful lady that dealt with me a few weeks ago. After checking with Technical - she was able to confirm that there are still issues affecting my exchange and others in the area as they had been receiving more calls advising of ongoing problems. She said that it is still with the solutions team who had hoped that the previous fix would have sorted everything out, however they were aware that there are still problems and are still working on it. Unfortunately again, at this moment there is no ETA for a second fix going in! My ticket and a queue of others are still open.

Just to echo what others have said - IF YOU ARE STILL AFFECTED, YOU NEED TO REGISTER A FAULT OR UPDATE YOUR EXISTING TICKET. You may need a stiff drink before picking up the phone though!

      Sky Broadband Update

We would like to apologise to customers in Cheshire and North Wales who may still be experiencing issues with their Sky Broadband connection. We completed upgrade work on 28 January, as planned, and some customers will have noticed an improved service. We’re sorry that the service is not back to normal for all customers.

We will be completing further upgrade work over the next few weeks which will restore service to normal. We’ll post the exact dates for each area here and on the Sky Help Forum as soon as they have been confirmed."

Anyone back to normal yet? what exchanges are still affected? I want to sign up, but I can't bring myself to while the service is still broken, I'm on the Old Colwyn Exchange.
