Not a chance I'd ever ditch the tv either but the broadband is shocking at the moment and it's only going to get worse the more custom they take on. If they continue to do that then the affected area's will only increase and the problem will become even more severe for those already affected.

Lets face it, they can't fix all the affected exchanges in all the affected areas with in a few weeks. This is going to take at least a couple of months to fix and that's if they get cracking asap. They could really do with breaking the list down by exchange, identifying exchanges that are going to get attention first, and provide at least a rough eta of when it will happen.

But didn't Sky say repeatedly that they would fix connect and that they would buy extra bandwidth and that never materialised.

I would expect Sky to be hoping that once the warmer weather comes people will go out more in the evening and less pressure would be put on the broadband.

Sky did buy more capacity for Connect back last year, but it obviously must not have been enough to actually fix the network issues. I think they're more interested in just unbundling exchanges now, rather than paying for more capacity.

In regards to the LLU product issue at hand, there's no doubt that Sky will want to fix that ASAP.

I have to doubt that it is a capacity issue with LLU. If it is then it may be the connection from the exchange to the 'backbone', not the number of subscribers or the bandwidth they are using..

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Same for me for the last 3 weeks, i initially had major ping problems which in the end got me unplugged & replugged. I believe they call it a lift and shift. This didnt cure the problem, was the same as before. 3 new routers later, endless conversations with people that dont understand how adsl works and i find someone who knows what there doing. My problem was DLM, turned it off, reset line profile and everything was fine. Then we get to january, now my very stable 14333kbps down, 930kbps upload sync speeds that always delivered 1.5-1.7mb/s download speeds no matter what time of day is now maxing out at 500k a sec and i get these speed test results.

I'm about to phone them again, i'm so very tempted to just go with BT Infinity as soon as it comes around. I cant even watch youtube videos at the moment because of this.
BT traffic manage p2p apps etc, none of which i use. I know there a bad ISP but the connection i am recieving at the moment is so poor i'm gonna have to move.

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

The issue isn't at each local exchange - it IS the next hop - everyone's traceroutes confirm this, and besides, thsi just posted on the Sky forum:

Customers in Cheshire and North Wales should return to normal broadband service from 28 January.

Customers in Kidbrooke and Kent should return to normal service from 11 February.

Customers outside of these areas should not be experiencing any reductions in their broadband speed, if you are please go to Sky Broadband | Help topics.

Further updates will be posted on the Sky Service Status page and the Sky Help Forum.

Re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Well - looks like the Engineers are busy at work - my connection is now tip-top and back to normal!!!! Woooooooooo!

There are however, other users still reporting throughput issues evben though their pings are now back where they should be. Although it is still early days - Sky did say that after/from tomorrow North Wales /North West will be back to normal!
