Ahh, well that's all right then! I knew the reason that they were treating us like mushrooms was for our own good!

Bless them for not wanting to annoy us any more!

I think Sky should admit that they have messed up with Anytime +. They should be honest about the amount of time it could take to increase the network capacity to resolve the issue (ie, days, weeks or months). If it is going to be months they should do the decent thing and switch off Anytime + until they have the capacity for it or if this isn't possible then tell us, take their medicine and offer compensation!

I'm sorry but they are treating their customers with a huge amount of disrespect at present and it's not OK!

I detect a hint of sarcasm there!!

Basically if Sky said 'It'll be done by xxx' and it wasn't they'd get a lot more grief than giving a vague answer. We do it where I work now as well - so long as people believe it's getting done then they're happy.

But I agree on them dropping AnyTime+ until capacity can match it

      Subtle huh!

Can't see them pulling the plug on Anytime+ anytime soon!

At the end of the day the TV business is their bread and butter so I can't see them pulling it to appease a few free or 5 a month broadband customers.

I have just posted a new thread on the SKY support site asking for a Statement from SKY over the issue though so lets see if they respond with any more info.

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

I fully understand the frustration that is going on here with regards to the massive drop in bandwidth and speeds for those affected.

If the issue is to do with Sky's Anytime+ service, then I suspect that they won't be withdrawing it soon.

It is worth noting that they haven't introduced much in the way of HD content by way of a compromise. When they do bring this on-line, I suspect that the volume of traffic will substantially increase.

Not knowing the cause of the problem is most annoying. We can speculate, but we can't be sure unless a statement is made.

If the issue is that a connection is damaged, then it could take days or weeks to find the fault. Alternatively, if the problem is down to bandwidth, then laying a new cable could take months to complete. It would be better to purchase more bandwidth from BT's network IMHO.

Buying more capacity from BT won't help, this is affecting Sky's LLU service which doesn't use the BT system.

Sky up to now are treating this as a fault, hopefully that means they can fix it.

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

With the issue only affecting people in peak times it seems like it has to be something to do with capacity handling, be it cable or equipment at the exchange. Then when you consider how many areas of the country are affected then Sky have either completely misjudged the amount of capacity they had available or more likely, misjudged the impact of switching on Anytime+.

I wonder if Sky are continuing to take on new customers in the affected areas, my stats suggest so as they're only getting worse.

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Sky marketing are certainly trying to sign up people still in Hertfordshire which is one of the affected areas.

Since Christmas we have had 2 bits of addressed mail to us as well as the non-addressed ones that the postman puts through all the doors trying to get more sign ups just for broadband.

It says on it "have a fairy tale broadband experience" and I said "yeah at the moment Grimm"

I wonder if Sky are now just going to ignore the problem and let the LLU side of the business go the way of Sky connect.

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Marketing campaigns are planned months in advance. The Fairy Tale Deal campaign started before some time before Christmas.

Getting a free spot to get your postie to deliver publicity material used to be hard. Since there is not limit on how many leaflets a postie can deliver now, I guess it is a lot easier for them to find a deliver window.

I sincerely hope that they will not allow their LLU BB to go downhill like they have with Sky Connect. They have 10 million customers who watch their TV. It would be devastating if the all went to Virgin because they couldn't keep their BB in order.

Come on Sky: Invest promptly & put in enough systems to rival BT countrywide.

Regardless of BB I'd never go to anyone else but Sky for TV
