The latest Sky BB ads say that Sky won't slow you down.

It certainly leaves them some wiggle room with the lawyers that lack of bandwidth/ contention can certainly still be present though.

I wonder if this isn't sorted soon that Sky will have to implement some form of traffic shaping just so they can cope in peak hours.

Ok - it's back on the Status page but still as a minor fault!

Anyone had an answer from CST as to why this is considered a minor fault?

What are our options with regard to failure to provide a service?

They are providing a service, albeit a slow one. Speed is anything from 512kbps up to 20Mbps and they don't provide an SLA for fixes as it's not a business service. This isn't to say you shouldn't look into compensation but you are getting a service

      Latest.....

As the issue relates to service levels in specific locations (rather than a network-wide outage for example), it is flagged as "minor" - but this classification relates to it's reach, not the potential impact on affected customers.

We know this is causing ongoing service issues and we would like to reassure affected customers that we are treating this issue as high priority and we are working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

People need to log the issue with Sky, they know its affecting a lot of people but the more who log faults the quicker it should get resolved (you would hope). Nowadays anybody logging a broadband fault with tier 1 should be able to speak to someone straight from CST on the same call (obviously you wont be passed straight through but if after trouble shooting is still there tier 1 can connect you straight to CST. From what Ive read in other places. CST are contactable (straight through) between 10am and 12pm and anytime after 9pm. im not syaing theirs large queues at other times but they seem to be the best times. I have a friend who works for sky cst in the new sky offices in stockport. According to him a Tier 1 dept has opened their as well as a cst (initially the site was for tv tech and billing). Apparently CST now has 60 new memebers and that's why tier 1 can transfer straight through to cst with broadband issues if they can't resolve as a pose to waiting upto 72 hours for a call back

Well Sky's status page shows 4 greens again, the 'minor' fault has been removed.

Chances of them fixing every affected exchange in one hit overnight?

Yep, will do the moment im home, my fingers are crossed!

If they've managed it then fair play to Sky but I'm thinking it's more likely their status page moderator has an itchy trigger finger.

They normally wouldn't remove it if they didn't believe it's solved but obviously can't be tested until the peak time kicks in. If it's still an issue it'll likely go back up

re: Sky Unlimited Broadband gone slow in the last few days

Still an issue. They've put it back up with a new outage start time of lunch today.

What's dissapointing is that it's just exactly the same message that's been on there since Friday last week. Surely they'd be able to provide an eta on some of the affected exchanges by now?

They must have dates for expected arrival of the delayed hardware from suppliers. Something, anything! In my current role, if we encountered a service issue such as this we'd never get away with not providing any update on it for a week, even if it was bad news. People need / want to know!
