      Internet slowed over xmas

I have had sky broadband for over a year, and it has been fine without any problems.
Today I got back from holiday from the 23rd of December and my internet is much slower than it used to be. I began by restarting it and resetting it, but nothing happened, so I unplugged all the phones in the house and plugged the router into the test socket, and still had the same problems.
Anything I seem to do has seems to not effect it, and my latency remains level, almost as if I am being capped.

Before this I got about 3mb/s, now I get this:
      Code:
      Modem
      ADSL Firmware Version 7.03.01.66
      Modem Status Connected
      DownStream Connection Speed 762 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed 413 kbps
      VPI 0
      VCI 38
      Code:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 762 kbps 413 kbps
Line Attenuation 49 db 21 db
Noise Margin 20 db 16 db
Does anyone know what may cause this?

Are you in the test socket now? If not, move to there and repost

It does seem that DLM has seen something and reduced the speed but better to be safe than sorry

What, just plug back in and make a post?
Even in the test socket my download speed is exactly the same, want me to do it anyway?

      Re: Internet slowed over xmas

Just an update, I left it as normal over night and it's slowed even worse.

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 30331 50120 0 4224 50994 00:14:25
      LAN 100M/Full 880 0 0 77 0 00:15:07
      WLAN 11M/54M 50896 30761 0 50282 4113 00:14:55
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 507 kbps 413 kbps
Line Attenuation 47 db 30 db
Noise Margin 28 db 16 db
I believe this could be DLM, can anyone confirm?

      Re: Internet slowed over xmas

You need to put the router into the test socket and then get a new set of stats from it and post them in the thread. If the above stats are from the test socket we need a set from your normal telephone socket.
Can you confirm that nothing at all is on the line with the router? Is your Sky tv attached to the line at all?

      Re: Internet slowed over xmas

I'll try again with the test socket tomorrow evening. Sky TV is not connected, only my PC and a laptop downstairs.

      Re: Internet slowed over xmas

If you can get a set of stats from the test socket and a set from the normal location it will help. Can you confirm the router is plugged into the main socket normally and not on any extensions?
The PC and laptop are connected to the router so not a problem, things connected to the telephone line are what can cause an issue so any telephones, alarms etc can impact the signal.

      Re: Internet slowed over xmas

Well the first result I got was directly in the test socket without any phones etc. plugged in, connected to my PC through wireless, and I have tried multiple microfilters/cables/etc.

      Re: Internet slowed over xmas

That's fine, another set from the normal socket will clarify if anything is going on internally. A new set from both locations will show the current situation and will make it easier to advise what to do. It could just be the DLM system making a mistake as has been suggested, if so a call to tech support to get it reset will resolve it.

Okay, I'll post tomorrow evening a result from both sockets.
      Thanks a lot!
