From your stats it looks like your connecting at around the 3Mb.

When are you experiencing these slowdowns? peak time?

Can you post a speed test result.

Re: broadband gone slow in the last few days

The OP is on Sky Connect which is just about the WORST broadband package in the UK and a total waste of money.

The only option is to move to a better managed ISP suchas Plusnet, Zen or IdNet.

Re: broadband gone slow in the last few days

Ive had the same issue for 3 days now after a perfect first 12 months.

Always had 9mb 50ms ping from speedtest.net wich arrives wirelessly at my PS3 as 5-6mb.

The last 3 nights however im getting 2mb 250ms ping on speedtest.net wich is <1mb at the PS3 resulting in not enough speed or too high a ping to even join an online lobby

      http://www.speedtest.net/result/1094536264.png

Just checked my router and it says i have 10+mb d/l, has anyone got any idea what's going on please?....im guessing theyre throttling me atm in iwich case im off!

Heres some router stuff incase it helps...

Re: broadband gone slow in the last few days

Same here all is fine until around 4pm and my pings go through the roof and my thoughput drops to around 3mb on a 18mb connection. I did speak to Sky last night and was told it was normal at peak times. I cant use xbox live as the ping is way too long. Iooks like your on broadband unlimited also.

Change your wireless channel or test it on ethernet as this may just be a wireless interference issue, also try the skyuser speed test as not all speed tests give reliable results every time.

Re: broadband gone slow in the last few days

Let's be clear, if you are on Sky Unlimited or any of their LLU products you DO NOT have peak times, there is no traffic management and you have a different problem to the OP and would be better starting your own thread with your router stats from both the TEST socket and the normal position with a description of what is connected and how.

It is pointless hijacking this thread.

      Hi Gw0lgn,
Same situation here, although i havent spoken to sky yet (i will do shortly) but the way it suddenly has dropped off at night the last few days after being faultless for 12 months makes me suspect that sky have had lots of new subscriptions over christmas and have decided to throttle all users to allow the infrastructure in place to cope (but this is just speculation atm) and yes im on "unlimited" If i get the same answer/cant solve this ill be switching isp as its not fit for purpose any longer.

      Hi Paulsky,
Thanks for the suggestions mate i will try changing the wireless channel although i find it odd that i have to do this for the first time in 12 months now.
Re testing on ethernet/speedtest.net, I always test by ethernet mate and have always had the same results give or take 5ms ping 1mb d/l speed at any time for 12 months and i often check the "estimate" my PS3 gives as to network speed and that too rarely fluctuates from 5-6mb so for both to suddenly drop around 90% of my usual speed and ping to go from 50ms to 250ms at the same time is suspicious to say the least.

I will try your suggestions later though when the problem occurs, just for reference here are the daytime results from both speedtest.net and skyuser:

      skyuser speedtest result

"We have detected that your ISP is speedtestid=0. Your download speed is 8328Kbps. Your upload speed is 607Kbps.
      Please select your speedtestid=0 package:
Sorry! We don't have any more information about your ISP."

      speedtest.net result

Notice the results are pretty similar and that the ping is <50ms and this coupled with nealy 9mb d/land okish upload is what i have had for 12 months with sky regardless of the time of day/night and why ive been happy to stay with sky, its only since 01/01/2011 that it goes crappy at night times wich makes me suspect throttling.

Ill post later when it goes crazy again, thanks for the input

Edit: apologies to the OP i will start a new thread, was my first post and seemed relevant to this thread to me
