      Slow speeds Broadband Unlimited

      Hi all

      I see a few posts here about slow speeds but they seem mainly to be on the connect service. I have Unlimited Broadband (llu) but Im finding my peak speeds are pretty poor for the last 4 or five days but the worst thing is the increased ping times and Xbox live server disconnects. Here is a speedtest



      My ping is normaly aroud 54ms to this server I sync with the exchange at around 17mb, here are my router stats

      Anyone else suffering the same thing or is it a localised event to me

      Sorry forgot to mention Im on ethernet via the Sky Dlink router

      Any firewall software? To rule out a pc based issue I would suggest rebooting into safe mode with networking and running the speed test again. I would also suggest a different speed test

      Hi

      I have zone alarm firewall on this pc with avast anti virus, I have tried in safe mode with similar results, I have also tried various speed testers and again very similar results. I have booted my pc into windows xp that is completely factory fresh and its the same, so is my netbook and my Suse linux box, all showing the same thing severe slow down at peak times. One interesting thing i noticed during one peak time slow down, I tried a file off usenet via a ssl connection and it went full speed, maxed my connection out while my ping and speed tests were again getting very poor results. It looked for all the world like traffic shaping but im told the unlimited product is devoid of such measures. Strange

      Very strange, looks like a throughput issue, have you tried posting on the official forum or calling Sky about this? If it's doing it on a linux box as well as other machines then if the router is the only common piece of the puzzle it kind of points there. Does this only happen peak time? Normal speeds other times of the day?

      Yea completely normal throughput at all other times, typically 14 meg on the speedtesters with a ping of around 50 ms. I do have a spare router as they sent me two as the first one took around 2 weeks to get here, will pop that on a try it

      I have changed my router for my spare dlink and no change, come around 4 in the afternoon and major slowdowns and big increase in pings

      It's going to be something turning on around that time, Sky Unlimited is just that. If they were shaping it you wouldn't be the only one

      If it was something turning on at peak times surely my usenet feed would be affected also but generally it seems unaffected
