Can I use my own modem equipment?

      Hello,

I have Sky Talk and Broadband on order with line installation due for 10th (not sure if broadband will be active immediately on this date or if I need to wait a couple more weeks - we ordered on 12th December and 10th January was the earliest date available, so it's quite frustrating). I received the Sky Broadband router last week, and it's a cheap D-Link box. As far as I can tell it's only wireless G enabled. I have an Apple Time Capsule that I like to use for WiFi, and I have an ADSL2+ ethernet modem which I connect to this.

However, I know that my parents got Sky Broadband when it first became available, and at that time it was not permittable to use your own equipment to connect to the service. I wonder if this is still the case or if the rules have been relaxed at all?

No, the T&Cs are still the same. There are many posts on either combining routers or extracting passwords from the Sky router.

Your Time Capsule should work perfectly well with the D-Link once you have ensured that the IP addresses don't conflict.

Officially you cannot but 1000's do so I wouldn't worry about it, you can get the details/instructions for extracting your password from this site if you do a search.
