      Either boot into safe mode and re-run the BT speed test, or at least do the speed test (via ethernet cable) on another system and then post up the results.

      It used to happen Tom at Weekend sometimes all weekend as it is very busy from 8am Saturday till early Monday morning. I have seen that happen where the Download speed achieved during the test was 2772 Kbps some times even lower with an IP Profile for the line of 7150 Kbps. DEAGLE I used to do various speed tests Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester to see what or if there was any difference between the Bt test and other speed testers Broadband Speed Checker - THE UK's No.1 Broadband Speed Test and thinkbroadband :: UK Broadband Speed Test are another couple of test sites.

      thanks. i will try tomorrow morning. judging my DB readings, do they seem ok? does it look like a filter/socket issue?

      Nothing wrong with your sync/attenuation/SNR. It's a throughput issue you have.

      thanks. so if its the same off peak tomorrow, in safemode via ethernet.this would be a sky/bt issue, and nothing i can do myself?

      Do a BT speed test after 12am and check the download speed. If it's better, then your problem is traffic management and nothing can be done. However, if it's still low, then boot into safe mode and re-run another test. If there is a difference, then something on your computer is holding your throughput back.

      thanks, ill try that. i hope its just traffic management, i have my pc as a DMZ (same without), wired and wireless with DHCP ( and ive tried a static ip) i dont have any firewall or antivirus, and its a clean install of windows 7. ive also done a speedtest on my iphone which comes up with the same speeds. ive tried three different netgear routers. all the same speeds. ill see how i get on tonight.

      Sorry for replying over and over. Looks like it was traffic shaping, my downloads are going up to 7/800KB/s at the moment. Thank everyone for you help
