      Classic Sky blunder

I have been more than happy with my Sky broadband over the last year and whilst sorting something out on the phone with them they offered me another year on the broadband with a nice money off deal.

So I said yes and that was that.

I was gaming earlier and though, woooo getting some decent lag here, so I did my usual and pinged bbc and was shocked to find my ping was 55ms. I then went on to the mysky page and my line was on the 10 day monitoring.

So basically sky are treating me like a new user and my line is being monitored for 10 days, I rang up and got my line switched to 8ms gaming profile, however they won't turn off the line monitoring as it is a legal requirement. I stated the case that I had been with them for a year already but no dice. I am currently at around 1.0MB/s download rate rather than my usual 1.2MB.

Anyway just thought I would post about how stupid this situation is

Well, DLM is always running so it could've just come on again regardless but it'll also be triggered with signing up for another year. You could've just stayed on a rolling contract and nothing would've happened so unfortunately it's another user blunder and not Sky as it's documented that any change to your account will trigger DLM

I was guaranteed nothing would happen when I signed up again, two phone calls later and its sorted once more, however i'm not taking blunder responsibility for that one

If I had stayed on a rolling contract I wouldn't be saving 4 a month.

They took responsibility for the blunder on the phone when I rang them

However I have to admit despite making a blunder there support line was quick to answer and it was sorted quickly.

It's not a blunder by Sky, possibly the agent who said you wouldn't be on DLM but that's the individual not the company

He works for Sky, so Sky blunder as he represents Sky to me the end user.

This is funny I have enjoyed it, made a dull work day more fun.

      Merry Christmas

I was totally going with the two tomatoes on my next reply

They put my max delays straight down to eight which was nice so that sorted out my ping back down to 27ms from 55ms.

My speed is up to 12mbps so i'm getting about 1.4MB\s on my downloads, however this may turn out to be a little high in the long run. I was on about 10mbps before and my line was solid as a rock. I hope it will be ok, I was at 8 on my SNR this morning however its hard for me to check as i'm running a Draytek Vigor 120 into a Netgear WNDR3700 so I have to plug straight into the modem to get the stats. I will check tomorrow to see if my line has stayed up over night.
