Can I use any router with Sky?

Hi, having some speed issues and was wondering if getting a new router may help. I've got the white Netgear which I've had since joining Sky so it's getting on a bit. It may not be the router at fault but I don't mind getting a new router anyway to rule it out.

Can I use any router with Sky or are they funny about certain routers? Can you recommend a router for me to get (cheap as possible).

      Thanks for your time.

      JB.

You can but you'll be breaking the T&C's of Sky BB so do it at your own risk. you'll also need to get the login details out of your existing router as Sky won't give them to you

Stupid or not, you agreed to use only the Sky router when signing up to Sky (Section 3(d) of the terms and conditions if I recall). Sky do have the dsl username and password logins, but they won't be given out.

In regards to a replacement for a slow speed issue - provided you go through all the necessary troubleshooting, if the router is suspected as faulty then it will be replaced. They won't just send another until everything else (internal wiring etc.) has been ruled out.

He's not a mod, and neither am I, but do you see that small box at the top of the page that says Google Custom Search? I can. And it works.

There is nothing to stop you piggybacking a better router from the Sky one. I would tell you how to do it or where to find the relevant threads but I can't be bothered either.
