    Buffering

    This is a discussion on Buffering within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; i would likee to know why my connection all of a sudden has gone slow on one main subject, videos... ...

      Buffering

      i would likee to know why my connection all of a sudden has gone slow on one main subject, videos... youtube videos buffer for ages and bbc iplayer or itv player both buffer... any solutions

      Wired or wireless? You are showing a 10Mb sync so I doubt if it is connection speed related.

      both.. browsing speed is really fast but videos buffer

      Your sync speed is very low for your attenuation, you should be getting 16-18Mb. I have not looked at your history, but have you tried the Test socket?

      Remember if others are using the connection, this will slow down downloads and can cause buffering.

      im the only one using it right now. i rang sky and they have said all i can get is 10880 kbps, they have maxed it out, but your saying i should get 16-18mb, by the way i dont have a test socket

      They are quite correct, at the moment your noise margin is just above default, so you will get very little more. If you have extension sockets in your house, they are almost certainly interfering with your connection. The only way to fix it is to change your Master socket to an NTE5 and fit and use a filtered faceplate.
