      Query about Speed

I signed upto sky about 2months ago and was told I could recieve 3.5mb - not too bad.

Then line connection was done and said I could recieve 1MB - not so good but I can deal with it.

Now in the last week a new line connection test was done and the maximum speed was set to 0.4MB - An absolute disgrace.

How come my speed has been reduced?
I have never known a service to reduce your speed without any explanation or warning.

      Re: Query about Speed

Right, not good. It should be around 3-5Mbps

Connect to your test socket and post stats again

      Re: Query about Speed

Speed will be the same but it's the noise margin we're interested in. Please just post them up

      Re: Query about Speed

Can you confirm that when the faceplate is removed all your other sockets are dead, ie, they have no dial tone?

      Re: Query about Speed

Then I am afraid you have a fault on your external line. Do a quiet line test, dial 17070 option 2 and listen, if there is any noise report it to your telephone provider as noise on the voice line.
