Re: disconnections, crackly lines and bad speeds..

Finally got it sorted, had my missus on the phone to someone at sky, whilst I was emailing them, and at about 7:30pm yesterday got a phonecall of a nice polite guy, who enusured that an engineer would be sent out pronto.

had a phonecall today whilst I was in town getting myself a baguette from a engineer named karen, I told her I would be home within about 10 minutes, and she said thats fine she will happily wait in the van.

after a couple of checks, and looking at the cable it seems previous owners of my property had tried a bit of DIY on the phone cable after it had split. she said the electric tape was basically fossilised. so she replace my line and installed a new openreach socket.

well am back up and running now, with broadband and a non noisy line. and my Line Attenuation has dropped from 50db to 12db, so I think i need to get sky to redo the line test

and that I would recieve a sum of my next bill in occurance with how long my line has been faulty, which I work out at just under 2 weeks .

thanks to everyone at this forum that provided me my food for thought and really helped out in giving me the information i needed when contacting them.

I hope she made it up nicely for you.

      Glad you've got a result.

Oh haha, typed that up wrong indeed.

well I have more bad news (at least I think)

after doing some ping tests they are not turning out very good at all.
I am getting a great amount of packet loss
and quite a bit of jitter

Can you post your stats please, from the Test socket using only the ADSL cable supplied by Sky.

That is going to effect your download speed and ping result. Try when the line is not being used by anyone else and I think you will see a big difference.
