      Terrible throughput after Firmware upg

      Stats:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2080 kbps 550 kbps
Line Attenuation 61.0 db 38.0 db
Noise Margin 7.9 db 10.0 db

My stats are about normal. However my throughput is about 0.05 megabits. Absolutely terrible, i have to restart the router to get the throughput back up to the full speed, but then a few hours later, im back down to a few 5kbps download. Same on other pc's in the household. Its getting tiresome constantly restarting the router, This has never been a problem until the update to 2.8, i didn't notice it at first however i did notice the wireless channel had been reset the other day, didn't think to check the firmware, however today i noticed. Upload is okay'ish, at about 40-60kbps(which is about right) only download is affected.

Advice? Ring sky and ask for a new router?

p.s yes its plugged into test socket, has been for months

      stats after router reset:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1913 kbps 522 kbps
Line Attenuation 61.0 db 38.0 db
Noise Margin 8.5 db 9.5 db

      Throughput: 1.69 Megabits

Later it will do the same. It also means i can't download stuff over night because after a short while the connection is killed.

The other downloads are from earlier, when the connection was half decent, now its completely Gone, even after resetting router it still didn't fix, and after resetting router by holding button for like 15 seconds, still nothing, stuck with a 0.1-5kbps connection.

This is affecting every pc in the household at the same time. Was going to ring sky but wasn't too sure how to explain it without them making me go through all the standard crap i already know.

Obviously you need to try the connection with one PC turned on to rule out it just being an issue with too many users on the network your end but other than that all you can do is go through the TS to get to CST and see what they say. That or use another router

There's only two PC's currently connected to the network, both by Ethernet cable, both experiencing the same issue. I don't have a spare router available, ones bricked, one ive had problems with before.

I guess ill have to ring up n hope I get lucky.

(also had this problem for quite a few days now)

Re: Terrible throughput after Firmware upg

Well im lost, The speed test on this site says my DL is 488Kbps, router says 1792Kbps, my actual download says 10KBps (no matter the source, i did actually try multiple sources of different downloads) and speedtest.net doesn't work at all (says it can't read the latency file)

Ill ring sky when i have the patience to put up with stupidity for half hour.

It's not stupidity, it's their job...can't blame them for having a process to follow

I wasn't talking about the troubleshooting process, that is their job. However companies hire idiots, this is a fact, you might speak to someone who has an interest in their job and knows what their talking about, other times you'll speak to someone who knows absolutely nothing except whats wrote on the prompt paper infront of them.
