Well, basically my problem is, ever since Sky have implemented SkyConnect since Octob

Well, basically my problem is, ever since Sky have implemented SkyConnect since October 2008 I've been on a line that only seems to give me 5 KB/sec!

It was a problem back in October 2008 when I did a bit of gaming, and it's a problem now. I've phoned up and been given 40 bills even though I shouldn't be paying since I'm on Sky Talk, and I've only ever gotten to Tier 2.

      These are my stats;

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1312 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 57.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 15.9db 16.0db

If you need any more information to help you help me, just ask. But what I want to know is, is there anything I can do, or say to Sky to get my problem fixed once and for all? Or even, wat is my problem? Because a 30% packet loss isn't very funny to me.

Your problem is the package you are on, Sky connect is one of the worst broadband packages in the country, if not the worst.

Your only soloution is to leave and go to a better ISP.

Check your exchange and see if you can get any LLU and if not try the Plusnet gamers package.

There are issues with sync speed but in a nutshell just leave Connect and save yourself the hassle

Well, the problem with that route is I'm not the bill payer and the bill payer doesn't wish to change the package. I have access to the account and everything with Sky, but all I really need is a stable connection.

If the bill payer is paying the full cost of Connect, 17 pm, they could get a cheaper and better deal elsewhere. Point this out and they may change their mind.

Unfortunately, the Kirkliston exchange has only BT suppliers, but there are many doing better deals with better conditions than Sky Connect.

Re: Well, basically my problem is, ever since Sky have implemented SkyConnect since O

The whole house is under the sky regime... Sky+ HD, two Sky Multirooms, SkyTalk, and the broadband. They seem to think all this is better than paying separately for the TV, phone and broadband. If you could find me a better pricing, I would be deeply grateful.
The bill payer said they would gladly move to everything to Virgin, but Virgin don't have any cables out here and I don't think they plan on having any for a very long time...

Plusnet - Broadband for Home and Business are worth considering and even BT themselves are better than Connect - BT.com | BT Total Broadband - Wireless UK Broadband Internet for Less

As your target noise margin is obviously quite high, I'd suggest making sure that your internal telephone wiring is as good as possible (eg unclip the ring wire if you have hard-wired extensions see ::. Kitz - Improve your adsl connection speed .::) first, and then migrate to a better ISP.

If you are using the d-link router as shown in your forum profile, you can get more detailed stats, which include CRC, HEC and RSuncorr error counts using my app Mel's Notes: Sky D-Link DSL-2640S Router Password Extractor.
