      Ethernet Dropping Intermittently

Hi guys. First of all i wish to thank you for your assistance in my wireless issue. It is now resolved.

However i need some help on ethernet. I can be connected fine for a day or two at the maximum and for some reason it will show up at the bottom as "No Internet Access" and when i click on the troubleshooter it says "Default Gateway not available". A reboot fixes this but it will happen again.

My wiring is fine as i had a friend run a few tests (he used to work for BT) and my speed is modest at just over 3mb which is fine for what i use the net for but i have tried everything and this issue is still there.

Its my birthday next friday so hopefully you guys can give me an early present!

      Kind Regards

When you say a reboot, do you mean of the computer or the router???

Post your router stats and check the router up time to see if it is rebooting itself.

If you have to reboot the PC, it may be worth checking you have the latest ethernet driver for your card (try the manufacturers website) because sometimes Microsoft are way out of date.

If that doesn't help, check when the driver was last updated, it may have done it automatically, it would be worth rolling it back to see if this is the case.

Just thinking now after reading a few other threads on the subjet..my father uses the same internet i am on but wirelessly. Could this cause the default gateway not available messages?
