Knew it! Traffic Shaping is a pain! It doesn't matter what time it is, whenever I upload to youtube or some other site my connection acts like it's during peak hours.

Hi Sky do not Traffic Shape 24/7 I Should know I have just had my exchange unbundled and I was on the connect package have a look at the link Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog
you did not provide your exchange to see if it has been upgraded.
Well I don't know... I will make a video about it. I can make my connection act like it's in the peak hours at ANY time during the day simply by uploading a file to a site, and a soon as the upload has finished uploading I can go back to browsing in OFF peak mode again

Was in the same boat as you, however managed to convince him to move to Virgin Media once I showed him captures of Sky traffic shaping.

My connection speed doesn't seem to be getting throttled anymore though, I'm just stuck with 50% packet loss.

      Re: Sky traffic shaping?

Sky do not throttle traffic shape at all ever! If you are on Everyday or Unlimited Sky broadband then you are connected to Sky equipment in the exchange and there is no traffic management.
However if you are on the Connect package then Sky dont have any equipment in you exchange and you are on a poor over subscribed re-badged BT product which is known for throttling and shaping at peak hours. You can check your exchange by putting your phone number in here
SamKnows - Telephone Exchange Search look at LLU operator presence, if Sky is not ticked then you are on Connect.

Well, yeah cause if you're uploading something and using up the whole upstream bandwidth new requests can't go thorugh so it WILL go slower. That's why people using torrents experience slow browsing as they're constantly rinsing their upstream

This has nothing to do with your problem, you have been told time and again that if you don't like it leave. Why are you still here spamming the forum with your complaints? You have also been told that proper Sky Broadband cannot be compared to Connect. Users on Sky LLU enjoy speeds as fast as their line can support and no throttling at any time. Ask for your MAC and move to another ISP, you will not be happy until you do.

      Re: Sky traffic shaping?

Whether you're using wifi or Ethernet, and what speed you're currently connected at. As said, IF you're on Connect then you'll need to get out asap...if you're on LLU then there's something else going on

My problem is the same over wifi and ethernet. I'm pretty sure I'm on LLU.

It's all right now, I should have done it yesterday.

By the way, anyone knows why Sky keeps calling me (or my dad even)?

      Re: Sky traffic shaping?

Without posting your connection stats we can't confirm if you're on LLU or not, basically though if your upstream speed is over 448kbps then you're on LLU
