      Different IP different ping?

      Hi all,

      I just wondered if there was any relation to ping and what IP address range your assigned or is that complete fiction?

      I notice at night now my ping goes up about 3-4ms, is this just other sky users on my exchange setting there downloads going?

      Just finished gaming for the night and my ping is currently 40ms, its 27ms in the day usually. Seems to be getting worse at night

      I wouldnt have thought there would be a difference between ip addresses from the same provider.
      There will be difference between different isp's depending on how they setup there equipment. For example my ping to bbc was 30 with Sky ( max delays reduced ) and is 22 with O2.
      How are you measuring your ping ?

      Basically,

      Ping BBC - Homepage -t

      Last night I was getting nearly 40ms then it went back to 27ms, I wasn't downloading or anything, unsure as to what spikes my ping. My exchange is always green and not over capacity however maybe there are alot of sky users in the Sky LLU, not sure really.

      Just wondered if there was anything it the IP address, I wondered if they knew you weren't using a Sky router if they put you in the bin so to speak.

      However on my Draytek Vigor 120 ADSL modem I have it set to copy the Sky routers MAC address.

      My current ping as of now, this is from my Wireless N laptop;
