      Should i be getting more?

Just joined sky and my testing has now finshed

      Download Speed

Your connection has been set to a download speed of up to
      4.9Mb (5024Kb)

      Master Socket

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5022 kbps 796 kbps
      Line Attenuation 41.5db 24.8db
      Noise Margin 7.1db 11.0db

and same from the normal point, in the test period i never synced at more than 5000

I was hopeing from around 8000 or does this seem about right
The other thing I was with orange before and my line attenuation has always been 38.5/39 ( had speeds between 5000 and 6500) without change for the last 2 years as soon as i changed to sky it jumped up to anything between 41.5 and 42.5 is this normal moving to adsl2 or is there something that could of caused this?

      Thanks

Can you post the stats from the Test socket, which is inside the Master socket.

The attenuation increase is normal from the move to adsl2+.
If those stats are from the test socket then i'm afraid that's the best your going to get!

Do you have other sockets in your house? Do they have dial tone when the faceplate of the master socket is removed?

No other sockets in the house
I thought moving to adsl 2 is meant to get quicker not slower
and with that sort of attenuation people get up to 8000
could i ask sky to manual increase the speed

Re: Should i be getting more?

At the moment, there is no more speed to be had, your noise margin is around the 7db default. This is usually an indication off noise on the line which is usually caused by some sort of internal wiring issue.

Are you sure you only have the one phone socket? you're not running an extension from it to the router are you? and you are sure it has an ADSL filter in it as the very FIRST thing plugged into it.

It depends on your line. A good line with your attenuation could get 8-9Mb, but your attenuation with your present speed show your line is not too good. You are near the dividing line for getting a speed boost with ADSL2+, in fact, you might get a better speed on G.DMT as it is not so demanding on the line.
