      Connection dropping....

Have had serious problems with my sky bb for so long with the line dropping every time its heavily used for example atm im trying to download the Rock band 2 export pack on xbox 360 its a 2gb file every 10% or so my internet disconnects (no orange light no nothing on the router) the internet just refuses to work, so i have to reboot the router, if i instantly go back to downloading ill get maybe 3-5% more done before the router stops working again and i have to reboot, ive been calling sky for so long and they are useless at trying to help us, so now we are wondering could it be the router? at first this never happened only a few months into it this started, its becoming a constant annoyance any ideas?

This via wireless? Does it happen on every device on your network, like another computer for example or just on the xbox?

      Re: Connection dropping....

What router do you have - is it the phase 1 netgear?

Edit: Post up your stats anyway. I've seen where the internet light stays on green, but the SNR drops to 'minus' figures and only a reboot cures it. Preferably, if you can grab a set of stats when it is fine and then a set of stats when the issue starts.

Sorry, I edited my post above there incase you missed the rest of it. Post up your router stats when the connection is fine and also when the issue occurs.

      Re: Connection dropping....

Personally, I'd just replace the router. I mean, I'd probably have you ping the router from one of your machines when the connection freezes up to see if it's a local connection issue, but either way I'd suggest it's the router.

Call up Sky on 08442410515 - perhaps just explain that you have an old 2006/07 netgear and it is freezing up every ten minutes or so. Replacement costs 28, unless you get through to someone who doesn't bother charging.

Have you moved house since your previous post? Weird Problem you sync speed seems to have dropped a lot and is now much lower than you should have even with the increase in attenuation.
