      Just off the phone-

      Guy reset it, and we temporarily got speeds of 1mb- Did some line checks, which he says is the problem. Now got 0.08 mbs!

      They seem to be insisting on keeping you on ADSL2+ which is not suiting your line and with your attenuation probably would do no good anyway. Call them back and ask them to change your line mode to G,DMT (ADSL1) this is usually more stable on troublesome lines.

      What kind of speed will that bring it to?

      They're getting Openreach involved, so I'll see where it goes

      You should be able to get around 4 Mb. There is obviously something wrong somewhere if they are really getting Openreach involved and not just telling you that to fob you off again. Has your noise margin remained stable with RSL?

      The noise margin has dropped back to around 9db

      That explains the problems you are having, it really is a job for Openreach. Keep the router stats handy, if you get a broadband engineer it may help him/her understand.

      Ah okay, hopefully it will get fixed up soon!

      The speed's fluctuating quite a lot, when I logged on earlier it was literally unusable, about an hour ago it was around 0.5mb, and now I've got 0.7mb

      Update-

      Sky called to get us to call BT if we had any more issues, the number didn't work so called Sky back-

      BT "fixed" the line on Wednesday, and I admit, speeds are now bettter (1mb, finally I can watch YouTube videos without waiting 10 minutes to buffer!), but there is apparenty still issues on the line. Sky were going to send someone round here, but when they did a new test, they called back to say the problem is at our exchange, and they're going to go there and fix that...

      So yeah

      Bump.

      Haven't posted for ages! Well, Sky said they fixed it back then, but it was still slow. It had been a lot of hassle calling them every night, so I gave up for a bit. When I called again, they said they would send a broadband engineer round, but never told us the date- so he turned up whilst I was at work, and no one was there to answer. He said he checked the line entering the house and he said there was nothing wrong to the eye (but obviously that's where he stopped).

      For the past few days, it's been basically unusable. 0.08mb connection, cannot watch any youtube videos at all, have to keep refreshing every single page to stop it timing out- Damn frustrating. Will give them another call soon.
