      Very slow speeds

      Hi all

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 864 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 53.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 3.4 db 14.0 db

This is a new installation, would not pick up the broadband at all until yesterday, drops out about 10 times a day, downstream varies from 106, to the above, which is the best its been.
      The estimate ways 3mb.
I have an engineer booked for Thursday.

Assuming this is in the test socket you've got a bit of a line issue. If it's NOT in the test socket, ans you have one, then plug it in and see what happens

If Sky have sent out Openreach, then I assume troubleshooting has been done (test socket, swapped filter and no extension cables)? Only thing you can do is await the Openreach engineer.

Out of curiosity, however, do you have any noise or issues with your landline?

      Hi, thanks for the reply.
Its from the test socket, been in there ever since I spoke to Tech support on Friday.

      All troubleshooting has been done.

Line is a wee bit noisy.

What kind of noise - crackly/static/popping/whistling?

Unplug all devices and try a corded phone directly into the test socket. Dial 17070, option 2 for a quiet line test. If you hear any noise, then it needs reported to whoever you pay line rental to, as that will likely be affecting broadband.

Its a little crackly and you get an echo.
Done the 17070, crackly, line rental goes to sky.

      Re: Very slow speeds

Do you know if you're on the Sky Voice and Broadband Network (SVBN)?

Did Sky not ask or pick up on the landline noise? If you're definitely getting noise from the test socket with a corded handset then you're best calling Sky and reporting that to them. They won't be able to raise another fault to Openreach until the current is closed down, however, so I'd suggest waiting until the engineer visit and if you're still getting the same issue after that then report the noise to Sky.

      Re: Very slow speeds

When you called 17070, did you get through to 'Zoe' or was it 'Welcome to the BT line test...'?
