      Worth getting Dlink DIR-655

      Hi all,

      I currently have the Black Netgear V2 I believe, I was using a DG834gt with the DGteam firmware however this has started to die recently so I switched back to the Black Netgear from sky.

      However with this router every few days the wifi stops working until the router is reset, it is something to do with my iphone but after trying DHCP and manual IP this still happens.

      If I could somehow get the Iphone problem sorted would the Black Netgear be able to handle heavy downloading without needing a reboot, I get around 1.2Mbps currently with my stats;

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 10235 kbps 606 kbps
      Line Attenuation 36 db 5 db
      Noise Margin 9 db 16 db

      Would the DIR-655 work with any of these scenarios?

      I am going to use a dg834gt in modem only mode connected to the DIR-655, think they are around 65 at the moment.

      Thanks

      Stu

      The DIR-655 is a great router but as you've found out it'll only work in conjunction with an ADSL modem. As your DG834gt is dieing you would want to look at getting the DIR-655 and pairing it with a new ADSL modem such as Linksys's AM200. You could use your sky router for the modem part though but as you said it seems to have some problems.

      Re: Worth getting Dlink DIR-655

      Thanks for getting back to me,

      I ended up ordering the Netgear WNDR3700 as I have heard great things about it and it has Gigabit and really nice Dual Band 2.4/5Ghz radio for wireless.

      Should do the trick nicely.

      It looks as though the AM200 has been discontinued so I'll probably order another cheap DG834gt and flash it with DGteam firmware and then put it in modem only mode.

      Been having a weird problem recently where webpages are loading and then they stop halfway through. They won't complete until I reload the page.
