Steve, cheers for the info but I'm a but shaky on the lingo. I've read up a bit about LLU unbundling but because I'm not overly technical it's not sinking in. What does it mean for me?

Hi When you joined Sky Broadband were you told that Sky did not have their own equipment at your exchange and the only Broadband package was connect is that right. But now your exchange has Sky`s own equipment in it. The thing to do now is ring and ask when are you going to be upgraded to Sky LLU.

      Re: Suddenly Painfuly Slow!

Yeah I seem to remember something like that going on. I originally signed up to get free broadband because I was taking the tv and phone on with sky as well but was told I wasn't in a "free broadband area" and Connect was my only option at 17 notes a month. If I can get upgraded to Sky LLU what benefit would that hold for me? Will I give me a faster connection even based on the stats I provided in an earlier post?
Sorry to be a massive pain with all the rookie questions but I've learned more in 48 hours on this forum than in a years worth of phonecalls to Sky.

      Cheers.

The benefits to moving to LLU would mean you're moved to adsl2+ (you'll get around 10-12mbps or thereabouts from your stats), but just as importantly you won't be under a horrible traffic management policy whatsoever i.e. you should receive the same speeds 24/7.

      Re: Suddenly Painfuly Slow!

Trust eagle eyed Steve to notice your exchange was enabled.

There are many advantages being on an LLU connection, mainly that throttling will be a thing of the past. Your speed should also rise, I would estimate to 12+mb, You should get on to Sky right away and ask them to switch you over. Keep badgering them every few days until they give you a date for the switch. Believe me, after the first few days it is a far better experience.

EDIT - and don't forget. you will be able to get Anytime+, which you wont on Connect.

Hi The benefits are you would be on Sky`s own network and be able to have Sky Broadband and get of the connect package which is a Bt re-badged max product. Sky Broadband Sky Broadband - Broadband and Wireless Offers - Join or Upgrade Online

Yes because you would be on Sky`s own network. I would though improve your connection as Isitme has said on post #4 . This is what I did
my router now is by the main socket connected with rj11 to the main socket which is a XTE-2005 has two connection points 1/ Telephone 2/ ADSL the XTE-2005 is already filtered so no need for filters. then from the router to the computer I use aBelgin RJ45 FastCAT5e Patch Cable , 5M Snagless Molded . (ethernet cable) instead of an extension. That way Hassle free
Woolfy I see that what I was going to say has already been answered and with great advice. I have just moved on to Sky`s own network and it is excellent. Fencehouses is just down the road Tom that`s how I knew it had been unbundled.

      Re: Suddenly Painfuly Slow!

I'm gonna them a bell this afternoon and commence the badgering.

If I ask them to upgrade me I'm assuming that means moving onto one of the more expensive packages? I pay just over 17 quid a month for Connect.

I've noticed that Ethernet cables are mentioned a lot. I have one but I've never used it. Do you mean going from the router directly into the laptop?

Cheers again, can't believe how helpful people are on here!! So refreshing!

      Re: Suddenly Painfuly Slow!

LLU packages are - Everyday lite (2gb usage) and Unlimited (unlimited usage). Both of these are cheaper than connect. Everyday lite is 5 per month, or free with sky talk freetime (which in itself is free) and Unlimited is 12.50 per month, or 7.50 with sky talk freetime.
