London low speeds for 7 years. How to fix?

I live on an estate of 720 dwellings in North Woolwich near City Airport. E16 2SN

Since day one I and all other residents have been only able to get around 1Meg download speed regardless of supplier and we know that this is because we are a long way from the Albert Dock exchange.

I am on Sky but this is not a Sky problem because the copper is BT.

Who do we contact to get this situation rectified?

1Meg on a newish estate is daft.

I don't want to move to Virgin since the Sky package is just so good EXCEPT for internet speeds. Yes I am on base because it is pointless paying for a faster service when all tests show I should only be getting 0.5Meg!!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Unless you talk BT into spending a lot of money building a new exchange you are out of luck. That is the only way to improve your adsl speed, nothing else will shorten your line and in doing so raise your speeds.

That is one of the exchanges with FTTC enable, have you checked if you can get it in your area? You will not get it with Sky but you may with BT Infinity and some other resellers.
