      Are these speeds OK?

I was previously getting 11-13 meg but now I get the speed shown below. From what I've heard this is still OK and was wondering if I should start messing around with the setup and phoning Sky etc. Before I do, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether the speed I'm getting is OK for the stats. And if the stats seem OK too. I was getting some disconnects at higher speeds but nothing that was drastic, just once a fortnight it'd go off then reconnect.

      Thanks for your time.

no you should be gettin more speed than that, i know somebody who has a 40db downstream attenuation and gets 9-10 meg, so you should be getting more speed than that

The stats aren't too bad, but if you were previously syncing at 11-13mbps then you should be able to get back there. Plug into your test socket (link below), using just a filter and the short grey dsl cable provided by Sky - no extension cables.

here is somebody elses stats on this forum, very similar downstream attenuation and they are getting 13 meg

      Re: Are these speeds OK?

OK I plugged straight into the test socket and the stats are -

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10486 kbps 1106 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.5 db 19.5 db
Noise Margin 6.9 db 8.8 db

So I got slightly more speed but I can get this sometimes set up normally. Sometimes when it syncs it can be as low as 6 meg or up to around 10. I am having to reset the router more atm though, could it be a faulty line? Could the router be up the wall? Once it's sync'd would the speed stay at that or is it dynamic?

I know I shouldn't really complain about the speed I'm getting as it's more than most are, it's just the fact it's gone down 3-4 meg in recent weeks.

If your speed keeps fluctuating from the test socket, with no extension cables in use and a different filter, then yes I would replace the router (dependent on how Sky's line tests go).

So I should phone Sky first and ask them to test the line? Can they do that or do I need to phone BT?

      Re: Are these speeds OK?

Sky CST can test the line via an Openreach portal they have access to. Due to it being a phase 1 netgear, usually replacement is the best option.

      Re: Are these speeds OK?

I've got another V1 White routers from my brother that was sent two by Sky for some reason. The Firmware is currently 1.02.28. Can you tell me what the latest version is where I can get it? Want to make sure I cover all bases.

      Cheers.
