      Download speed low

I am having huge problems with mine over the past few days, been with them for about a year and a half now. I will phone sky up and see what they say. Before I was getting about 1.5mbps as I think that's the maximum for my area, what could I get?

      These are my stats.

      Thanks

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 320 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 11.3 db 12.0 db

Interesting that, today is my first day and have very similar stats with again similar U/D speeds. I'm thinking SKY are lying to me telling me it is a fault with my router

      @thebullet:

How many telephone sockets do you use?
Is the router plugged into the master or an extension socket?
Are you running any extension cables to the router?
Does every telephone socket in use have a microfilter connected as the first thing?
Do you have Sky tv plugged into any of the telephone sockets?

      2 Telephone sockets used

Router isn't plugged in to the master no, I know it makes a difference but for the past year and a half we have had it at around 1.5mbps.

      No extension cables!

And yes every socket used the microfilter connected.

Sky isn't plugged into the telephone socket!

      Thanks.

From the stats, it looks like you're on Sky connect. The BT system has seen something it doesn't like, presumably errors building from the extension, and capped the line.

I'd suggest plugging the router into the master socket, or even better - the test socket, and leave it there for 72 hours. Hopefully by then the profile should reset and your stats will be back to normal with target SNRs of 6db.

Ultimately, however, if you are indeed on connect then I'd suggest moving to LLU if you have it available in your area.

so I decided to have a go at plugging it into the test socket and nothing was happening. I took the cover off to find inside a wire coming into the house attached to a piece of chock block with another wire coming out around the house. The biggest bodge I have seen! I don't even have a master socket! But this wouldn't be why we are getting slow speeds as it's only been doing it recently.

      Rather annoying.

Hi as User05 has suggested. The Connect. The Connect package Upstream is 448kbps which is a Bt re-badged max product if you are on Connect an easy way to find out is by running Bt Updated Speed Tester

It's not 100% Connect, a CST agent/DLM may have set the line to it...but 99% of the time it's Connect

      Re: Download speed low

So I phoned sky this morning and they agreed the speeds were slow. They couldn't find anything odd with the line and told me to plug it into the non existent master socket. I agreed to sort it out and try and fit one. Anyhow a few hours later before I fit one I had a look on the router to see the speeds and it now says..

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1920 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.0 db 12.0 db

Great I thought, the best speed I have had from them the whole time I have been with Sky. But when doing a speed test online it still stays at 0.2kbps and the laptops and ps3 is still showing signs of slowness like before. Why is it still not giving it from the router?

      Thanks

      Matthew
