Sky Unlimited - less than 800kb download speeds

      Hi Sky users,

I have had sky broadband for around 2 years now, I started with the 8mbit package
then upgraded to 20mb around april this year...
Since upgrading, My speeds have dropped...

At first I put it down to their "Maintainance time" (the 30 days after you are upgraded?)
But I have been putting up with extremely slow downloads for a while too long, I am not getting my moneys worth from my package.
If I am gaming on my xbox, I am almost always at the lowest connection.
      Loading pages are slow,
Downloading Videos, music etc... is really slow.

      here is some info:
      Physical Router:
      Only the power light,
      the Wireless light
and internet light are lit up
the ready light is not lit which seems unusual.

I have removed the cover from my Phone socket and plugged the splitter directly into that.

I am using the netgear DG834GT router, however was told, when I upgraded to 20mb we should have recieved a new router?

      Software info:

      first 3 parts to ip:
      94.14.128

      I appreciate replies

What are your stats from the socket you normally use? The test socket stats are only useful when compared to your normal position. As it is it looks like you could get another 1Mb+, giving you about 4 Mb.

Do a speed test here - Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester and post the result.

Note - When downloading always select the Custom install or you will end up with stuff you don't want.

I haven't used the normal socket in a long time...
it was simply unbareable therefore used my test socket since.
      Download 2240Kbps
      Upload 632Kbps

Those speeds are well within what you would expect from your sync speed. You have a bit of noise margin in hand and could possibly get another Mb on your sync speed. Call Sky and ask them to configure your line manually as you have improved your wiring and think you can get more.
