Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad?

      Hi all,

Wondering if you could offer any advice with a problem I'm having connecting a computer to the Sky router. So far I've connected a laptop (used to initially set up Sky using the cable). Also connected my main comp. all I done was put in the key on the bottom of the router in when I connected to the network. So far so good.......

Then when I tried to connect a third comp. It picks up the router but when I click on connect and enter the key, I'll get a progress bar while it tries to connect, after about 5 minutes of the bar bouncing left and right, nothing, there is no cannot connect message, it just stops and the connect button is clickable again.

The computer that wont connect is using a belkin usb adapter and is Windows XP pro.

      Any thoughts?

Think it does but cable isn't long enough, hoping theres a way to do this without unplugging everything.

The belkin adapter is wireless, in network connections it says not connected: Firewalled. If that helps any?

Its a long time since I used XP.
Can you turn off your firewall and see if it connects then ?

It takes away the Firewalled part of the message but still doesn't connect, turned off AV too.

Check what channel is on and what wireless is around you using netstumbler, I had issues setting a belkin wireless USB dongle up at the start of the week as it just would not lock onto the signal as well as built in wireless on another laptop. I've already advised them that any issues with it and I would suggest a Linksys or netgear adaptor and the bin for the belkin.

Re: Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad?

Dholdi - It is yes at connect screen in brackets after Sky router it says (WPA) in wireless properties connection was set as WPA-PSK I changed it to WPA but it changes back to WPA-PSK after I try to connect.

PaulSky - Channel is on Auto Scan, "and what wireless is around you using netstumbler" you mean other networks? Theres only one other that adapter is picking up if thats what you mean? My main comp. uses a Belking but it's N+ and runs excellent. My brother has a spare it turns out so, going to try that tommorrow.

I installed the N+ adapter into the comp. I was having the problems with and it connected first time, looks like the older Belkin adapter will be getting replaced. Thanks very much for the help guys!

Your Belkin adapter may need updated drivers. Get them from the Belkin site, don't trust Windows when it says you have the latest drivers.
