      VPN disconnection problems

I am using Windows VPN to link into my office network on the odd day where I have to work from home.

However, it continually disconnects after anything from 5 to 30 ish minutes. Rest of BB is fine - just the VPN gets killed off.

My IT department at work assures me there is no problem at their end. According to their logs they just get messages about the connection getting reset by a peer.

This used to work fine, up until maybe a couple of months ago. VPN was pretty solid. But now it drops all the time.

Any advice or info gratefully received.

Have you checked your router logs to see if it is disconnecting from the net.

Are you using wireless, if so, try a wire.

This is what I get from the router log at a time coincident with the VPN disconnecting:

So it appears that a DHCP renewal is happening, which kills my VPN tunnel? Guessing....

This happens both wired, wireless, Mac VPN & Windows VPN.

      Re: VPN disconnection problems

If your external IP is changing then you need to post stats from your router and explain your setup. External IPs should only change if your router is rebooting.
