Telia's having trouble routing some stuff around at the moment; this is most noticeable if you're playing online gaming on any European hosted servers; in particular Blizzard (for Warcraft and Starcraft, housed in Paris) and Steam (I play Left4Dead on some Dutch servers, 'cos I'm funny like that.)

I don't browse the Steam forums that often, but have thrown info into a thread on the Warcraft Trechnical Support forum, and it seems to be narrowed down to Telia. I don't know much about them, but I think they're a 'trunk' for internet connections, and its within their network that things seem to be blarping.

So it isn't likely to be sky, sadly - and when it's a third party, it can taker anything from a week to a month to be solved... It's definitely been like this since Saturday for me.

You really think people are going to want to help you with this kind of attitude? Clearly you aren't familiar with diagnostics/troubleshooting.

I'm at a loss as to how Sky would benefit from 'doing something their end' to mess with your latency. If you really think it's to do with Sky, then why are you 'wasting' your time by looking for advice here? Call Sky and find out.

I dont wish to open a debate about how you think my attitude is, and whether i know how to diagnose and trouble shoot my own system. clearly i'am familiar about it because ive already done thats asked previously and had no luck, even before registering to these forums. I also did not state that Sky is benefiting in anyway, however when an internet connection drops for a length of time, its quite obvious theres maintenance being done to the line. Good or bad. As for calling Sky. You obviously did not read the OP as i have several times. they deny any line reconfiguration and diagnose the line as fine. The line is fine 90% of the time except these lag spikes happen regularly which is unusable. Im on these forums to find out if anyone has similar issues, as ive found out its quite a regular problem across the net.

I dont play any world of warcraft for obvious reasons, but i do play Eve-online / Starcraft 2 / League of legends and Napolean total war which have all desync'd since this issue started. these franchises run on seperate independant servers which arnt linked. Teamspeak 2/3 and ventrilo are completely immune to this lag spike.

Today ive given my desktop a good going over with new drivers with a viruscan (malware adware and spyware). the system was also defrag'd. I've cleaned any internet history and cookies, to avoid any extra bandwidth, but its still the same. During the day today. the modem did drop connection for 25minutes before returning to normal. im still getting lag spike none the less.

Hi Can I Just ask you a Question did you remove the faceplate and connect to the test socket through the filter. That is if you have a test socket.

Now.. I know Staff of Sky arnt about to read this on a forum which is pretty typical for any service
You would be amazed by the amount of Sky Employees who use and assist on this forum.

Re: SkyBroadband Constant Lag Spikes generally

      Hi steve.

We have a few filters which was given to us by the engineer who installed the line. we was told to uunplug the master socket and replace it with a filter where the modem and phone line plugs in. this had no affect.

We was also told never to **** about with the master socket so its untouched. unless ofc its adviced too.

You need to do as advised and plug directly into the test socket. Whatever the installer said, you can't cause any harm to it.

      Paul.
