Thanks Smithy, I'll get on the phone to them over the weekend and see if I can get anywhere. Should I just tell them I think there's a problem with my line?

      Cheers

Just tell them in your in the test socket with a swapped filter and you keep getting drop outs and your speed keeps dropping.

      Re: ADSL Link Down

Well i've just spend 50 minutes tearing my hair out on the phone to them.

My connection testing ended on Sunday and they gave me 384 up & 384 down! I called them and asked them to higher the speed, he reluctantly upped it to 1.4meg down & 0.8meg up and tried to end the call, when my connection dropped down to 1.2meg down & 416 up. I asked him why it done this and he said he changed it so he'll change it back. He done this.

I got off the phone after complaining and my connection has gone down to the below

      Code:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 832 kbps 416 kbps
      Line Attenuation 57.0db 31.5db
      Noise Margin 8.4db 16.0db
      I'm not happy at all.

I said is there a fault on my line but he didn't seem to understand me.

Are the call centers based in the UK?

There are quite a few centres for tech support - Dunfermline, Shepton Mallet, Belfast, Newcastle & India. There are maybe a few more.

If you're still getting the slow sync / drop-outs from the test socket with a swapped filter and no extension cables in use, then hopefully next time you ring you'll get somewhere with the next advisor. 08442410515 would be the number to ring.

Do you have any noise/issues on the landline at all?

Thanks, I got through to India it would seem.

I'll try again in a few days if it doesn't improve.

I'm used to Virgin Broadband but moving into a new estate It's not available. I'm disappointed with my first experience of ADSL to be honest!

I'm connected to the test socket through a new filter. Short lead into the router. I only have the one socket in the house so I wouldn't have thought internal wiring would be an issue?

My phone line is great, crystal clear

You do have a long line so your speed wont ever be brilliant but it should be a lot better than it is at present. I would certainly phone them up in the day as your more likely to get a UK call centre then and hopefully they can sort an engineer out for you.
