Small update, Sky rang again tonight, and have said they aren't going to do the card reset, they are simply going to do the lift and shift. As I have been on the same port for 4 years, time for a move. Should be complete in 48 hours, so time will tell.

Due a follow up call on Friday, fingers crossed its all fixed by then.

      Re: Lost Speed

Been moved over on the exchange now, and all seems ok when the phone rings, which is good.

However, I am back to my 6.5Mb sync speed, with a noise margin of 8dB on GDMT. My upload is capped at 0.8Mb.

The issue now is my download speeds from a test are poor:

I guess its back on the phone to Sky, fortunately they agreed to keep the ticket open. My pings are also in the high 50's or low 60's which seems high to me. When doing this speed test, no one else was using the internet, so not sure why it is soooo slow.

      Any clues??

You'll be on DLM again as it's on a new port...but if your SNR is 8db then you've not got a lot of room for improvement

      Re: Lost Speed

I've been abroad for a week, so not been able to do anything with the connection, however, it does appear to have been stable whilst I have been away.

I am still connected at 6.5Mb, and still only getting a max download of 3Mb. Not sure how long Sky keep the ticket open, but I will ring today to find out what is happening. There seems little point in the router telling me I am connected at 6.5Mb, it may as well say 3Mb, thats all the service I am receiving.

Ticket will likely be closed, obviously try Ethernet if you're on wireless and if still wrong just give them another call

      Re: Lost Speed

Just called them, and did some more testing with them.

Plugging in an Ethernet cable direct to the router with my netbook, gets me 5.5Mb download.

So the answer is, its my powerline causing the issue, as connecting my pc via a long ethernet lead results in a good speed. I expected some loss in speed using powerline, but not 50%. Think I may be in the market for a newer model, as this Advent one doesn't get good reviews. ANy suggestions for a good place?? Looking at the Netgear 200mbps version.

      Cheers.
