      new router

      hi lads since ive set my router up a week ago my speed has gone realy slow compared to what is was on my old router,on the old router i was getting 6.8 meg and now on this new 1 im only getting 1.75 meg why is this anything i can do to speed it up thanks,jeff

      just had a thought my old router was setup in r bedroom but the new one is in livingroom plugged into a socket that i fitted myself is it possible i may of not connected it correctly also does anyone no what sky charge just to have there broardband as im thinking of cancelling my tv package but want there bb

      I think the BB only is 12.50 per month.

      Can you post your router stats from the current position and also the TEST socket, chances are you have an internal wiring issue.

      thanks for reply mate im at work at the mo so cant do anything until tonight dont mean to be thick mate but what do u mean by my router stats never done anythin like this before,thanks

      Log into the router following the instructions in the first link above and you can then copy and paste the router stats, they will look like this:-

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 18236 kbps 966 kbps
      Line Attenuation 23.0 db 12.8 db
      Noise Margin 7.3 db 8.0 db

      Once you have done that, move the router to the TEST socket, the instructions are in the second link above and get the stats again, if the internal wiring is a problem, this will show in a difference between the two stats you have taken and then we can advise what to do to improve things.

      I have Sky TV (full entertainment package @ 24 per month) and Sky Unlimited broadband and I pay 12.50 per month for the broadband.
