Better router or homeplugs with WIFI?

      Hello

Im after a bit of advice from you all!

The wifi from my Sky d-link router is terrible! my PS3 that is about 7M away only picks up about 7-15% signal and also my iPhone has a hard time keeping a wifi signal! Its a joke and im fed up with SKY CS!

So i was thinking either a set of home plugs with a wifi point built in or piggybacking a better wireless router from my sky one(Just connecting it with a Ethernet from the sky router to the new one?

      What do you all recommend??

      Many thanks,

      Ben

Re: Better router or homeplugs with WIFI?

Ok, well you can piggyback a second router from the dlink which would probably be cheaper than homeplugs with a wireless facility. This would require some minor changes to the settings of the piggybacked router.
Alternatively you can just use the router instead of the Sky one, against the T&C's but noone as far as I am aware has been told off for this.

      Thanks for your replys!

2 questions, how would I connect a second router and do you know what settings I would need to change??

Or is there a walkthrough for Extracting my password and user name from the Dlink router??

Thank you, hopefully soon I cam actually use my wireless!!

Re: Better router or homeplugs with WIFI?

nobody has worked out how to get the settings out of the dlink yet.

To connect a 2nd router to the Sky one you do this.

Make sure that the 2nd router is in the same IP address range as the Sky router, the Sky one is 192.168.0.1 as default so assign the other one something like 192.168.0.200.

On the 2nd router turn DCHP OFF and now you can connect the two routers up via ethernet cable.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: Better router or homeplugs with WIFI?

If it's as simple as that then I think that a decent router with a good wifi range Is the way to go! Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how it all works out!
