      PS3 problem DNS 80710102. Desperate need of help please

      First post here so hello everybody.
      I have had this problem on my ps3 for about a month now, i have searched this forum and others for a solution but still no joy.
      When i turn my ps3 on and try to sign in it fails with the error code 80710102.
      But if i unplug the router and plug it back in then it signs in first time.
      I have changed various settings but i always get the same outcome:
      ip address - suceeded
      internet connection - suceeded
      playstation network - failed

      I have the netgear white router with the latest firmware and have never had a problem with it in the last few years.
      Any help would be greately appreciated, as this is ruining my gaming.

      i dont really know about the ps3 online syncing been a while since i had mine lol
      but im taking a guess here do you have a WEP enabled router ? i.e do you need to put the wep key into every laptop/computer to gain access to internet ? and if so is the key synced to your ps3 console ?

      1) Your SSID (typically the SN of the modem/router)
      2) WEP 'enabled' and the WEP key

      things to try if you are using wep access go into the router settings and disable to your WEP to see if the ps3 then gains access ..

      also
      Under the network settings, disable the Media Server Connection. You won't need that anyway. Then try again. hopefully it Should work.

      all depending on your router model but good luck
      i know the 360 has a similar requierment to have the WEP inserted before access

      Kz3e - if you'd read the original post you would have instantly realised this has got nothing to do with wireless security as he can get an IP address and internet connection which indicates that the connection with the router is fine.

      As for this issue, sounds like a port issue, is Upnp on in the router settings? If it is then have a look at port forwarding the required ports (You'll have to look these up on google) to your PS3.

      Thanks a lot for your replies guys. However i am now stumped because i just turned on the ps3 to try your suggestions and BAM- signed in within 2 seconds. tried a couple more times to make sure it wasn't a 1 off and still all good. 6 weeks of annoyance and searching for solution and now it just seems to have 'sorted itself out' hopefully will continue working but thanks anyway

      lol simon all u needed to do was google the dns problem and it reports back to it baing a fault and mainly to do with what i stated it doesnt matter if you have a valid connection if there is a problem signing into psn it is either due to the said fault or simply because psn was being updated and danimallector87 good luck mate and hope it stays working for ya
