      Re: VERY POOR Wifi!

One thing I did notice seconds before the chap rang, they upped my speed on about 3000 (I'm still running DLM so hope to pick up a bit!) and rebooted the router, and seconds after the phone call had ended they set it back to about 1800!
They would not do that. It is possible you have a line fault which is helped by the phone being used. Bring up you stats and then dial a number on your phone. See if the noise margin increases.

      Re: VERY POOR Wifi!

The noise margin does increase from around 6.5 to 11. But i am sat next to the router with the phone which im sure would cause that!?

Them setting the speed and then lowering it only seams like to logic to me! The router never reboots when the phone rings, but did seconds before he called then seconds after he hung up!

i just popped to my mums, borrowed her netgear sky router, connected it up to my phone line. Couldn't get internet access. however i could see the wifi signal, over 90% on my PS3 and full bars throughout on my iPhone. Sounds like i have a dodgy router to me?

It wouldnt reboot when the phone rings, however it WOULD reboot if it was going faster because the phone was in use and you ceased use of the phone. Your last post clearly indicate some kind of line fault which goes away when your using the phone. I challenge you to make a phone call and reboot the router whilst on the line and then check your sync speed.

      Re: VERY POOR Wifi!

Well i have just done a different test, removed the phone from the filter and unplugged from the mains.

Speed has increased from around 1800 to:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2542 kbps 798 kbps
      Line Attenuation 59.5db 37.1db
      Noise Margin 8.1db 12.0db

What would that show? The phone its self is interfering?

However no matter what i do the WIFI is still very very poor!
