Question Can I use a BT Hub 1.5 to extend WiFi range?

I have a standard Sky Netgear DG934G router doing all the usual ADSL/LAN/WiFi stuff with Sky as my ISP. The router is sited upstairs in a bedroom used as my office and connects via cat5 to a Netgear G5608 v3 1Gbps switch that also connects to 4 PCs. printer, NAS, and then onwards via cat5e to another G5608 v3 at the other end of the house in the TV room. A media PC then connects into that switch and gets a 1Gbps LAN link back to the NAS to play movies etc.

The problem is that whilst my laptop (and my wife's/son's iPhones) will connect to WiFi fine at the office end of the house, there is no signal at the TV room end. There is only about 20 yds between these points but the walls are all solid. I get a low level signal outdoors beside the TV room, but nothing inside. I used my laptop to see what other WiFi networks are around in case it was interference but no other networks are showing up in the WiFi catcher app.

I used to be with BT so I have a spare white v1.5 home hub so I am wondering if I can plug this into the switch in the TV room, turn off the ADSL and DCHP stuff and set it up to provide a stronger WiFi signal in the area?

      Any suggestions welcome.

Yes you can setup the BT hub as you suggest and it'll provide a better wireless signal in the area

Can you use any alternative routers to get better range? I have a Belkin F5D7632-4 which previously was excellent - can I use this as an alternative?
