Internet speed slows down in late afternoob/evening (also effect my gaming)

Hi over the past few months my internet has become really slow in the late afternoon/evenings. It gets so bad that even loading up google can take about 30 seconds and trying to stream a video on youtube is out of the question even on 240p. This also majorly effect me when im playing games as it becomes so laggy that i spend more time waiting for the lag to stop than to actually play the game.

(Stats taken when in Test socket)

Connection Speed 5839 kbps 726 kbps

You using wireless? If so, try wired as it shouldn't be that bad with a 6Mbps connection

Then there should be no reason why it's slow - only Connect is affected by evening slowdowns...what version of Windows are you using? And are you trying things with ALL other devices turned off?

Might also be worth trying in your master socket to rule out a internal noise issue causing errors

      Tried the test socket?
Do your connection stats change at all in the master/test socket?
Tried an XP machine purely to check it's not your PC?
You've not got anything running in the background on your PC (Torrents/iPlayer/etc..)?

It gives me the same results when in the master or test socket. My brother is running xp on his machine and he also gets the problem. I useally close down my torrent once it finished and same goes when streaming. Plus when my brother is streaming during the day i can play games without much of a problem.

Try safe mode with networking - it'll only load the basic drivers and if things pick up then it's something on the PC (but as you say 2 have the same issue it might be network related - either your end or Sky's end)

You might have been better continuing with your previous thread on this, it may have been solved by now.
Broadband speed slows down alot in evening.

What you have to remember is that if more than one person is using the connection, the bandwidth has to be shared. If one PC is downloading torrents for instance, unless it is carefully controlled, it will suck the life out of the connection for other users.
