      Stats help please.....

      Hi,

I have just been activated on Sky Unlimited today, having moved from BT.

Please can you advise me on the following stats, as to what my line speed is likely to achieve:

Connection Speed 4096 kbps 608 kbps
      Line Attenuation 19.0db 12.5db
      Noise Margin 17.8db 16.0db

      Many thanks.

      Paul.

Give it every chance by plugging into the Test socket if you have one and check the stats from there. You are looking for a rise in the downstream noise margin in particular.

Ok, I have plugged straight into the master socket, here's the stats:

      4095 kbps 605 kbps
      Line Attenuation 22.0db 12.4db
      Noise Margin 15.6db 15.8db

      What does this mean please?

      Paul.

When you say Master socket do you mean the Test socket? If so it probably means you are not making a proper connection in the socket. The figures in the Test socket cannot be worse than any socket in your house and yours are. Give the plug a wiggle about and push it in and out a few times, see if the figures change.

      Re: Stats help please.....

Yes. I only have one socket in the property, and I have removed the faceplate and plugged into the test socket.

For clarity, I have plugged the micro filter into the test socket - the micro filter has my phone connected to it aswell as the router.

      Is this right?

      The stats now show:

      4095 kbps 605 kbps
      Line Attenuation 22.0db 12.4db
      Noise Margin 15.6db 16.0db

Can you put the faceplate back on and try again?
