I see it now. The first stats you posted were taken before DLM started and your connection was on G.DMT. Between taking your first stats and moving to the Test socket you have been moved to ADSL2+, which is why your attenuation has increased. Sorry I missed that when I looked at your second set of stats the first time. Your router will probably resync in the early hours, around 2.30am and raise your speed a bit..

There is nothing to be gained by using the Test socket, so leave it in the faceplate. Leave the router powered up and plugged in for the next 7-10 days or until DLM finishes.

      Thanks for the feedback.

When I look at MySky, it says that 'line testing is not currently in progress'. I assume that the MySky site isn't necessarily updated as soon as DLM starts?

What would you anticipate my line speed to settle down to after the DLM period?

      Paul.

      I would say around 16Mb.

The Web pages are always behind real life, which causes a lot of confusion.

      Re: Stats help please.....

I'd settle for that. BT gave me about 12-13Mb, but cost me a whole lot more of course. I'm saving plenty each month with Sky.

Early days, but so far so good.....line was activated at about 2pm, and broadband has been working perfectly at about 3.5Mb since then. I look forward to seeing an increase tomorrow.

      Paul.

      Re: Stats help please.....

I was expecting an increase to 10-12Mb today, so was pleasantly surprised to see the following stats:

Connection Speed 16382 kbps 945 kbps
      Line Attenuation 22.0db 12.5db
      Noise Margin 7.5db 14.4db

I assume by the low noise margin on the download side that this is just about the best I will get?

Also, is the download speed likely to fluctuate much during the testing period?

      Paul.

      Re: Stats help please.....

That's currently it but does the noise margin go u in the test socket (assuming you're not there already)? If so, you've got a bit of a wiring issue your end

      Re: Stats help please.....

Isitme suggested earlier in the thread that I should remain connected in the faceplate as there would be no advantage remaining in the test socket, which I have done.

As everything is working smoothly at present I would be loathe to start disconnecting again.

What makes you think that there is a possible wiring issue?

      Paul.

      Re: Stats help please.....

The attenuation should, in theory, lend itself to a higher sync speed so I was just suggesting going to the test socket now to see if the noise margin goes up. If it does then there's some noise caused by the faceplate/wiring off it. If it doesn't then you can just leave it as it is and away you go

You using wireless? If so, try using Ethernet - might get another meg out of it
