      Odd router logs

I am getting them every 25 minutes, to the second.

      Mon, 2010-09-06 22:35:40 - Administrator login failure - IP:192xxxxxx

      Mon, 2010-09-06 23:25:40 - Administrator login failure - IP:192xxxxxx
      Mon, 2010-09-06 23:50:40 - Administrator login failure - IP:192xxxxxx
Tue, 2010-09-07 00:15:40 - Administrator login failure apart from the last one here which is me logging in.

This is odd and I have no idea what it means, anyone have a idea? I have reset it, changed passwords, and yet it still is happening, is something on my PC trying to access it?
I have scanned my PC and it's clean, performed the "shields up test" in case someone was trying to access it, changed the password and network key too and my security is WPA Personal and TKIP.
I do not know which Netgear router it is though as I cannot find where is says this.

      Re: Odd router logs

I do not know which Netgear router it is though as I cannot find where is says this.
It is is white, then it is a Netgear DG834GT
If it is black / grey then it is a Netgear DG934

The IP 192xxxxxx is an internal IP address and so it looks like something on your side is trying to access it, and not from the internet.

I use the black one on o2 and my logs look like this.

      Re: Odd router logs

Thanks for the reply, its a black Netgear and it has only just started doing this, I just noticed it a few day ago and I check the router logs about once a week or so. I have just read that thread thanks, so how would I find out what on my system was trying to access it?
I should mention I have had the router for 2-3 years now and not much worry with it.

I assume the bold figures are a full address and you have obscured it for some reason. Take a note of this address and go to the Attached Devices section. Maintenance Tab then the Attached Devices tab. The device will be listed there.

If it is your main PC, start to worry.

      Re: Odd router logs

The full address is 192.169.0.2 I just put xx's there as I was not sure if this was giving out too much info.
Were is the attached devices? on the router? then that is is my PC, so I should worry?

      Re: Odd router logs

That address will be the first device connected to the router, probably your main PC. If you open the router setting and go to the Maintenance Tab then the Attached Devices tab. The device will be listed there.

If it is your PC it is not normal procedure, so I would advise running Malwarebytes just in case you have picked up a trojan.

      Re: Odd router logs

It is the 25 min interval that is really strange. Is this still going on?

Have you checked the Scheduled Tasks list on your PC to see if anything there is causing it?

      Re: Odd router logs

I haven't checked that yet, I am just scanning with a few things (SAS and Spybot) just to be sure.
How do I find Scheduled Tasks and what would I be looking for under it?

Sorry about this, I am not really very good with PC's.
