Moving house, using same Sky router - reset?

      Hi,

Finally got my BT line activated at my new flat and placed the Sky BB order. It's due to be activated on Friday, hopefully - but do I need to reset my existing Sky router from my old place or do anything special? Or will the orange light magically turn to green without me doing a thing?

      Will

Plug it in and away you go. No special requirements

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll sit back and wait (and struggle with O2's horrendous 3g connection for the time being)

If you are getting an orange light that probably means your line is broadband enabled. What are your stats at the moment?

I'll check when I get home. It's just not logging in, so I guess Sky haven't yet flicked the switch at the exchange (or whatever it is they have to do).

I seem to remember the Orange light shows up when it's waiting to login, then turns to green once it's been able to.

I think the amber light means you are connecting with the exchange but not authenticating, so you can still get the sync speeds. If there were no broadband on the line, you would probably get a red light.

Have a look when you get home.

If there was no BB then the amber light would keep flashing trying to find a signal but failing - unless the FW has been changed to show a red light...

      828 kbps up

      Noise margin 15db (6db up)

So, I guess I'm just waiting for Sky to flick the switch. Out of interest, exactly what is the process now? This is Sky's own LLU equipment, not the Connect service, so do they have to send someone to the exchange, contact BTO or is it all done remotely?

Re: Moving house, using same Sky router - reset?

That's pretty good, you should be good for 16Mb+.

The connection to Sky equipment requires physically removing the plugs from one piece of equipment and plugging them into another, it is not just a case of flicking a switch. This is why Sky give themselves a buffer of 3 days as they are depending on BTO to go to the exchange and make the connection within the given timeframe. It is not unknown for the connection to be completed before the activation day, but more often it is on the day quoted. It just depends on when engineers are available to do the work.
