The real issue you will have is when you are eventually on the correct package it will be next to useless during peak hours anyway, it is way over capacity and the traffic management is dire some are seeing less than 10kbps and some have even hit the 1kbps club, do yourself a favour and jump ship now, try Plusnet, Zen or IdNet.

Hi The reason for the test is all your Bt tests can be viewed by your ISP and this test proves that Bt have made a big mistake. As I said you can refer back to the test if you have any more similar problems.

No proof is needed, Sky only offer ADSL Max so it just needs a regrade order placed via BT Eco...its not logged a fault

so at the moment, Sky are doing an SNR reset apparently - are they barking up the wrong tree?

When I first rang them they said they were going to re-profile my line (over 2 weeks ago) but it didn't have any effect.... hmm, roll on Friday to see if whatever they were doing has worked !

It depends if they're saying that to cover up having the change the product OR if that's what they actually have to do (there's a chance the line is on ADSL Max but is capped at 500kbps at BTs end)...

Re: Great Stats - Slow Broadband

well.... 1 day left to go until Sky said all my broadband troubles would be solved.

      current stats today are still:

Connection Speed 576 kbps (down) 288 kbps (up)
Line Attenuation 3 db (down) 2 db (up)
Noise Margin 28 db (down) 23 db (up)

I find it hard to believe that having had 5 days to take effect following the SNR reset, 1 more day will make all the difference and magically tomorrow I'll wake up to something more that 500kbps!

What do you reckon.. will my stats be higher tomorrow??!! place your bets......

Re: Great Stats - Slow Broadband

There is nothing magical about it. Sky should have told BT you are on the wrong product and to switch you over immediately. This is another example of the poor communication between Sky and BT. I could almost bet that with any other ISP it would have been fixed as soon as the mistake was discovered. I would not be surprised is tomorrow passes and nothing is done.

Take this as a warning and start looking for another ISP.

Re: Great Stats - Slow Broadband

yeah, tend to agree - if its not more than 500kbps then I'll ring BT straight up and see what they can do...

Plus, after getting pretty annoyed on the phone with Sky last Friday because they kept a) cutting me off after 30mins on hold (3 times!) and b) failing to put me through to CST I was promised a call back Saturday... that was 5 days ago and still no call.... just giving them enough rope to hang themselves (and me grounds for a refund tomorrow if worse comes to the worst)!

You need to ideally get to the BT Team in Shepton - they should be able to get a regrade done in 24hrs...

Re: Great Stats - Slow Broadband

      ok, so an update.....

Stats still the same, still getting 500kbps!

just spoken to Sky, apparently its due to happen at 4pm today......hmmmmm......and I will get a call back after 4pm today to confirm.

Someone is apparently going into the exchange to get something changed manually and it will have immediate effect. Can't say I believe them. Had to really bit my tongue so as not to lose it but god help them at 4:30pm if nothing has changed.

I can feel the anger slowly building....
