      Ok, Since I have reset the router and it has changed back to PPPoA network all is working fine, Thanks for all your help!

      Hi Guys,

      I have had this issue aswell, i have attempted the reset and i will now monitor and see what happens, i was on the verge of calling sky as up untill my connection dropped a few days ago (presumably for the update) everything was stable.

      If there are any updates in relation to this ill post them here so that others can get the assistance they require.

      Ok remember to hold the reset button in for 50 seconds though

      Just gone through the same process with sky support - except they tried to talk me through changing my network IP address because that might be the issue.

      They then talked me through how to change my setup from DHCP to a fixed I.P. - they quickly backtracked when I told them that they were playing around with my LAN settings when the problem was clearly a WAN one.

      It looks as if the hard reset on my Sagem modem was enough to kick the connection back into behaving.

      edit: this thread IP Reservation issue seems to say there IS a DHCP problem !!!

      Hi, I too have noticed that my network type has changed from PPPoA to MER, my firmware is version 2.8sky and my download and upload speeds have dropped by 20-50%!!. I will try the reset for 50 seconds and see where it takes me.

      I've had a lot of disconnects today, checked my speeds & it is the same as usual. But noticed in my router stats that it was saying PPPoA/MER so I tried the 50 second reset & now everything seems to be stable again!

      HI all, and apologies for the slight necro post!

      I am having problems with disconnects at the moment and am due an engineer visit on monday.

      I am now using the Dlink router, i also have the SagemCom router here, both have exhibited the problem.

      I have noticed that i have been stuck on the same ip since these problems began, while my ip was dynamic before. Sometimes, when the router is trying to connect again, it chooses to connect to PPPoa, fails, then connects to the MER network thingy as usual.

      My question is, what should i be connecting to, PPPoa or MER? It was always MER before the problems began.

      I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible to give to sky to get this fixed, its doing my head in now!

      Stats;
      Connection Speed 13768 kbps 945 kbps
      Line Attenuation 14.5db 9.1db
      Noise Margin 6.9db 5.0db

      It generally just annoys people if you post the same question in multiple threads.
