Could Sky have blocked my torrent downloading ??? Advice appreciated.

      Hi there

Over the last few days I have noticed that my torrents have stopped downloading and im wondering if Sky may have blocked them.

Ive never been a big user of torrents but over the last few weeks I have downloaded 5 or 6 AVI's around 700mb each average.

Now when I try to download something regardless of the number of seeders connected my download rate rarely goes above 1kb/s !

Im on a Sky connect package and don't think I could have gone above my quota.

Ive tried using both Bittorrent and Utorrent with the same result so I don't think its a software problem.

My speed from Speedtest is coming up at 2.31MB/S as of 21:51pm today but has been up to 6.5MB the other night with the same result when trying to download from torrents.

EDIT: Ive just ran the BT Updated Speed tester and it states im getting 3267kb/s download speed. Net surfing etc is fine its just the torrents that seem to have stopped working.

EDIT2: Downloading files from other sources for example Download.com are fine (just got 127kbs)

Is it possible that Sky have blocked it ?

      Any advice appreciated.

Sky Connect has traffic management, so this could be what is causing your slow speeds on torrents.

Are you getting slow speeds when you are downloading other files (not torrents) ?

Have just done this and it shows me as having a download speed of 3267 kb/s from a max available of 7150kbs.

Will try and download a non torrent file and report back.

      Thanks.

Downloads from other sources (not torrents) are fine. Ive just downloaded Avast Antivirus from Download.com and got 127kb/s.

So it looks like the only issue is with Torrents.

      Any advice gents ???

Wouldnt be in the least bit suprised if it has been blocked on connect to stop the heavy downloaders using tons of bandwidth on torrents.

Pace SKY HD With Seagate Pipeline HD 2TB

If you want to download torrents without having your download speeds slowed right down, then the only advice would be to move to an ISP that does not do traffic shaping, such as Sky Unlimited.

Hi can you remember what the IP Profile was. Have a look at (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users and Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down? There are lots of threads about the connect package throttling.

Well as mentioned above I have downloaded a fair bit more recently from torrents than I have ever done before but I didnt think it was excessive.

Prior to the AVI's I downloaded recently my torrent use has been extremely low, I hardly ever listen to music (don't own an MP3 player) so don't even use the torrents for that.
