      Re: Speed getting slower

The last I heard from Sky, they were calling me yesterday. But that was when I had low SNR Margin which has mysteriously stopped now and looking very stable at a connection of 3072kbps. SNR margin is sitting pretty at bout 18 so I am sure we can squeeze a wee bit more out of it

I will post my speed/line stats when I speak with Sky and you can maybe give me your opinion on the new stats when I post them

      Re: Speed getting slower

If the noise margin stays stable at that high figure then yes you'll get more speed, but if it's still jumping around you run the risk of an even less stable connection if they increase the cap.

      Re: Speed getting slower

Well waited on Sky to phone which they didn't so I decided to call myself and they have lifted the cap

      Here are the stats attached

Much better speed than I have ever had. Only ever had 3mb with the SNR MArgin at 6. SNR is sitting at 8-9 at the moment but I will keep an eye on it

I take it BT have moved my"issue" to some other poor souls line.............

      Re: Speed getting slower

If your speed stays stable with a noise margin over 6 for the next few days, call Sky and ask them to try your line on ADSL2+.

      Re: Speed getting slower

I am monitoring it constantly at the moment - hovering bout 8-9

Do you think I would see an increase if they were able to switch it, and if so what do you think it could go to

      Re: Speed getting slower

It's possible as ADSL2+ allows a higher maximum speed but doesnt always work well on longer lines. Maybe another 1mb

      Re: Speed getting slower

I agree with Simon. You might get another 1Mb, but your line might not be as stable. To be honest in every day use 1Mb would make little difference to your experience. You may get a bit more on your upload, which would be the main benefit.

Thanks for the info. I will monitor the stats the next few days to see how stable it seems and take it from there

I will be in touch soon

Thanks again to all who have helped so far

      Re: Speed getting slower

Well thats nearly a week of my new improved speed. It has been quite stable but I have a few "loss of Sync" errors since last Friday

I have noticed that since I last posted my line stats that my upstream SNR Margin speed is now hovering bout 7. Can this be a factor in your connection dropping out or is it only the upstream when it falls below 6

      Re: Speed getting slower

It would take a much bigger drop than 1db to knock off the sync, the router should be capable of running down to levels of around 1-2db without losing sync (although you might get a lot of errors and slow thoroughput if it drops this low)
